Preparing goods for your Storage

We all agree packing and moving can be stressful, but there are ways and means to simplifying and making the task easier for you.  The key to your packing success is firstly, the way you wrap, pack and or box your goods, using the right packing materials, by using the following recommendations:

Furniture:

Bedding mattresses should be covered with plastic covers and stood on their end to maximize unit height

Lounges / recliners:  Place covers over furniture. Packing blankets, sheets recommended for leather suites. Cushions wrapped separately.

Outdoor settings:

• If possible, look at dismantling to minimize space.
• Stack chairs where possible.

Packing Boxes:

• Make sure boxes are packed firmly and to the brim to prevent crushing.
• Ensure boxes are taped up securely with authentic packaging tape.
• Use appropriate sized boxes for small/large items keeping in mind excessive weight can become too awkward or heavy to lift.
• Place books flat packed in especially designed book cartons or even archive boxes
• Try to keep boxes of uniform sizing preventing odd shapes for easier packing

Breakables / Glassware:

• Wrap breakable items separately in bubble wrap or packing paper and mark or use ‘Fragile’ tape
• Pack crockery on their sides to prevent any breakage in Crockery or crystal cartons
• Pictures and mirrors should be bubble wrapped then packed in picture/mirror cartons
• Packing paper should be used to fill spaces

Clothing / Linen:

• Portable wardrobes ideal for preserving clothing.
• Striped bags ideal for doonas / pillows etc
• Vacuum bags for long term non use of garments

Electrical Equipment

• Best stored in original packaging cartons if possible
• Ensure all products are clean and dry before packing
• Store fridges / freezer with doors ajar preventing moisture
• Computers boxes available if original not available and / Or bubble wrapped

Should you take the extra time with the above simple preparations, this will not only save you time on move in, but easier for both packing and retrieving your goods and prevention for damages.
